Shogun Academy of Martial Arts was founded by Chief Instructor, Bilal Halimeh. Bilal leads the club with a wealth of coaching and international competition experience and brings his individual and effective style of training to London.
With classes based in Wimbledon, SW19 and West Hampstead, NW6, Shogun AMA welcomes people of all ages and abilities. Our members range from beginners to those with many years of experience, which provides a rich and fun training environment. Our current classes are based around kickboxing but we incorporate techniques used in self-defence, and Muay Thai. Shogun AMA provides opportunities for grading, sparring and there are also opportunities to enter competitions.
WHY US
We won’t promise that you will find the training at Shogun AMA an easy ride – but we will promise to help you get results. Martial Arts are a great way to help improve strength, encourage weight loss and sculpt your body. The training also builds self-esteem and self-confidence and can enhance your concentration levels.
Our kickboxing classes are varied and include cardio and strength work, flexibility, pad work and technique.
Sparring classes are for those with some experience. Here we learn and practise techniques used in sparring. Students spar with each other and with the instructor. It is useful and important to spar with people of different heights, weights and ability.
To get the most out of your training we recommend students attend a minimum of 2 classes per week.

Who is it for?
Shogun AMA’s classes are for everyone (aged 5+ years). Be prepared to be challenged, work hard and have fun!
Do I need to be fit?
No, it doesn’t matter what level of fitness you start at. To begin with you will be able to work to your own ability and at your own pace but your instructor will encourage and push you to help you improve in this area. You will get out what you put in to training.
What should l wear?
Clothing you can move around in easily and comfortably. Sports clothing and footwear are ideal (or you can go barefoot). When you become a member you will be required to wear club uniform.
What do I need to bring?
Water. Maybe a towel.
How much does it cost?
Classes are £9 for non-members. After about 3 classes you will be required to become a member of Shogun AMA for insurance purposes and team ethos.
There is an annual membership fee and different options for paying for classes.
1-to-1/Private training prices will vary according to your requirements.
What Martial Arts will I learn/do you teach?
Our classes are kickboxing based but we teach techniques for boxing, self-defence, Muay Thai and Osport. Private training sessions can focus on any of these styles if you wish.
How big are the classes?
Classes are usually quite small with a maximum of 12 students. 1-to-1 or small group private training is available.
Who makes up a class?
Beginners and experienced students train together in the same class, working to their own abilities. Generally the evening classes are made up of adults and the afternoon classes of children (5+ years) but all ages are welcome at all classes. The mixture of ages and abilities makes for a dynamic training environment where students can learn from each other as well as from the instructor.
What is the commitment?
You will need to become a member if you decide Shogun AMA is for you. To get the most from your training we recommend students attend a minimum of 2 classes each week but it is up to you how often you attend.
Is there a social side to the club?
We think we are a friendly bunch here at Shogun AMA. From time to time we organise social events to have fun together outside of the training environment. Family and friends are often welcome to join us in these events.
